Annette Tavitian

BACKGROUND

My name is Annette Tavitian and I’m a counsellor for issues of Emotional Abuse. My special interest is in providing education and support for Narcissistic Abuse Recovery. My business also provides general counselling to women, men and adolescents who need help with anxiety, depression, relationships and relationship breakdown.

I am a single mum of two children under 12, and have been so since my youngest was born 9 years ago. I understand and empathise with the struggles that sole parents face financially, emotionally and physically on a day to day basis. My experience has ranged from currently working in my business full time as a Counsellor while working in a volunteer capacity as a Primary Ethics Teacher for years K-6 for almost 4 years. I have also worked with families and children as a Child Protection Case Worker on the front line, and provided counselling for families within Palliative Care Australia (Central Coast).

My passion for the cause

My passion is to support families and their children to help them become resilient in life. In an ever changing world where more and more children are using drugs and alcohol to escape their problems – I want to be able to provide them with the tools necessary without the needs for AOD.

My interest was peaked to become an ambassador because I have seen those around me, as well as my clients, have their life destroyed by drug and alcohol addiction. I believe that everyone should be given a second chance at life.

Building resiliency in families plays a key role, because the children model the behaviours from adults. If they see their parents using alcohol to self soothe, then they will model this behaviour by using alcohol as their go to to when things get tough.
